A 59-year-old Nodaway County resident, Christopher Weiderholt, was arrested earlier this week on drug and firearm charges.

Nodaway County Sheriff Randy Strong says officers responded to a report of a suspicious man in a pickup near a farm residence in Ravenwood yesterday morning. Strong adds the suspect was a repeat offender.

"When we arrived, we recognized the individual having dealt with him in the past recently.  We'd arrested him for distribution of narcotics and he was out on bond.  While we were investigating why he was out there, one of the deputies saw a loaded syringe in his pick-up truck.  And we took him into custody.  He was forthcoming with what he had on him and we found spoons and methamphetamine on him.  We conducted a search of his residence in Conception Junction because we had reason-information that someone had seen him walking inside that residence with a long gun.  We found a loaded shotgun by a bed."

Nodaway County Prosecuting Attorney Robert Rice has charged Wiederholt with two class D felonies - possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm.
